What a fun and unproductive long weekend!
I feel like we did the most quintessentially American things possible for Memorial Day.
Saturday we went boating! The weather was pretty grey but we never got rain… win!
Sunday we went to a bbq… of course!
It was a white party since you can wear white after Memorial Day which was a super cute idea.
Of course I got no pictures because I was too busy eating my weight in cheesy potatoes and pasta salad… mmmmmm carbs!
Today I did my patriotic duty and spent some money in order to power the American economy.
A new Marshalls opened up nearby last Thursday so of course I had to check it out. Since I can’t buy clothes I wandered through all the other aisles. The gates of heaven opened and I found these…
OMG… I bought something similar called Half Pops at World Market a few months back and when I went back for more (aka all of them) they were gone! This was a different brand but just as amazing! I seriously need to figure out how to pop my popcorn half way because it is the best way! I contained myself and only got one of each flavor but it was hard not to buy all that they had.
I also hit up some antique stores. We live within walking distance of two and I had my eye on a mini vintage globe I saw in the window while walking the dog. It ended up being more than I thought it was worth but I found some other gems…
First some of the random stuff I found:
Charm: The Magazine For Women Who Work
I love that back in the day working women were such a rarity they had their own magazine!
This booth had stacks of blue books all over. Where did they find all these blue books?!?! Love it!
Also, who doesn’t need a poodle statue?
These were a few other things that I found charming.
A tricycle and a Marlboro sign made an interesting combination.
Wendy Ann sure was a lucky little girl!
And how awesome is this Oui bag? I would say yes to that!
Last but not least the items I came home with…
These weren’t the globes I went for but I hit the globe jackpot! I got both of these for $35, less than the one I originally wanted!
I think they look great on the piano!
I also found this awesome “BAR” lamp. It is so much fun! I need to paint the lamp base at some point but for now I am loving it!
I may not have gotten as much laundry and cleaning done as I had planned but I think my weekend was a total success!
How did you celebrate Memorial Day?
What awesome finds have you discovered at an antique/thrift store or garage sale?

"It was a white party since you can wear white after Memorial Day which was a super cute idea."---That's a good idea! Except whenever I wear white, I spill something all over me.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! My husband refused to wear white because he was certain BBQ sauce was going to end up on him. He actually kept himself pretty clean though... So proud of him!
DeleteI go to my local thrift shop once a week. I'm trying not to buy things just because they're cheap but I always come home with a puzzle or two for my daughter and a character or animal for my son. If something comes in the front door, the kids need to pick something to go out the back.
