So let's get back to sewing, shall we?
I found this post somehow, probably Pinterest or through some sewing blog.. idk but I am glad I did! Kristin from Skirt As Top has created a basic scoop neck t and offered the pattern for free! I fully intended to make it from jersey and actually had some of the exact purple jersey she used leftover from a maxi skirt I made. However, I found this fun sheer fabric at JoAnn's:
I thought it was a fun summery neutral that would work great as a scoop top with a tank underneath.
I followed Kristin's tutorial and was pretty pleased with the results!
Here are some not super great photos of the finished product.
These are the modifications I made:
* Did not include the pocket
* Finished edges just by turning under and sewing
* Took the sides under the arm and about 3 inches down in by an inch to reduce gaping
I think it turned out pretty awesome for my first shirt ever! I made another one recently and bought a bunch of other sheer material to make tons more... can you tell I love this pattern?
I still haven't made the jersey one I was planning on...
Super big thanks to Kristin for this free and simple pattern and the helpful tutorial, I love sewing bloggers!
How did I do for my first time making a shirt?
Do you have a favorite pattern that you have made or plan to make a dozen of in all the colors ever?!?!
If you do please share it!

DeleteI always find sewing clothing items for myself so difficult and they usually end up in the scrap bag. Congratulations to you, this is a wonderful effort and you should be so proud and I encourage you to make more. TFS
ReplyDeleteSo far my problem with isn't with difficulty as much as it is with finding the time to actually sit down and start/finish things! I did make another in pink but I wish I had time to make a dozen more!
