Illusions and Secrets

It is Sunday so that means it is time for more secrets!

There were some pretty interesting ones this week but I decided to keep things a little more on the family friendly side...

"All our loneliness is just an illusion."

I love this one in part because of the email that accompanied it. Here is an excerpt you can head on over to PostSecret until next Sunday for the complete text.

"I am only here today because every day I remind myself that I am not alone. Deep down I know that not only am I loved by my family and friends but also that other people share my struggles and feelings.

So when I saw this postcard on PostSecret, it hit so close to home."

Her email included this image:

This isn't the first time someone has sent in a picture of their tattoo that was inspired by a PostSecret secret. I think things like this really speak to the power of sharing one's secrets. Someone millions of miles away that you may never ever meet may feel connected enough to your secret that they get it permanently added to their body. This in itself shows that we are never truly alone.

I have considered a tatoo based on a PostSecret card from over 5 years ago. Of course now I can't find the PS that I swear I had saved on my computer... but the quote was "il faut souffrir pour etre belle" which loosely translated means "one must suffer to be beautiful". This secret was posted during a time that I was facing what one might call suffering (though that sounds quite dramatic). I was going through not only physical but also emotional suffering. My physical suffering resulted in a very large scar and I thought that beautiful quote would be an amazing addition to my scar. I never did pull the trigger on the tattoo but I did have a friend ink it in with markers back when I was considering going permanent.

What quote or quotes inspire you?

I have an entire Pinterest boards of quotes I love, follow me on Pinterest to check it out!

  7. Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the Caribbean Chicken I posted on my blog!
A friend of mine used to be the mail carrier for the guy who started Post Secret. She said one day she noticed he was getting all these post cards with crazy things written on them. She asked his wife about it and she explained it to her. She said he was always trying to find a crazy scheme to make money and he finally found something that worked!

  9. I had never heard of PostSecret before. It sounds quite inspiring. I don't have many quotes that I follow in my life except one. It does not matter how far you've come, only in what direction you are traveling. It is a loosly changed version of the great German Philosopher Goethe

I collect quotes about style and beauty and being your own unique self. This is one of my favorites: "I tried being normal once. It was the worst five minutes of my life."

  11. My heart goes out to you for the hurt that would've caused the scar. I totally know what you mean about sharing secrets and meeting that other someone that shares your pain or feelings. Glad to see you are recovering and going forward.
