Tornadoes, Tornadoes Go Away Don't Come Back Another Day! #STL4OKC

I didn't post yesterday because STL got a little crazy!
Here is a rundown through pictures...

Thursday night we met up with our friends that just announced they are having a baby!!!
We ate at Pastaria by Niche which has probably become my favorite Italian restaurant in STL.
They make pretty much everything themselves: the pasta, sauces, bread, pizzas, gelato it is all amazing!!!

This guy really loves it!
That is what I look like eating the leftovers!

Friday after work I met my Captain friend for dinner and enjoyed one of my favorite "beers" Cherry Lambic!

We left at the perfect time because just a few minutes after I got home the tornado sirens started blaring. I headed straight to the basement where Matt and the dog already were. The cat is too cool for school so she was just chilling on the couch, I picked her up and brought her down with me.

This is how Matt makes it through an hour or so in the basement.
Ready in case we lose power!

Neko actually became really concerned after I brought her downstairs and wouldn't moved from the spot I set her down at for a good 15 minutes.

We survived! Unfortunately the area where I had been for dinner only hours earlier got hit by a tornado. It was only a mile or so from my parents house but luckily they didn't have any major damage.

The weather forecasters this morning said the remaining storms should be staying south of us so I finally put Pierre outside for the summer. I really hope he doesn't get blown away!

This evening the in-laws are coming so we have been cleaning like mad. Matt is smoking ribs and mac n' cheese, as long as the weather doesn't turn on us we are going to have an amazing dinner with his parents, my parents and my baby brother.

As long as we are on the tornado topic the OKC area was hit again last night. Luckily, here in STL there has been a lot of damage but no casualties reported. OKC can't say the same. Just last week we had a big fund raising campaign here in the city #STL4OKC and over 80,000 pounds of goods were sent to the Moore, OK area. I hope all of those affected feel the love we are sending from STL.

While my thoughts and prayers are with all those here at home affected by last nights weather I am still sending prayers out for the OK areas affected. Hopefully, mother nature gets done with her tantrums soon!

  1. Scary, scary stuff! I'm glad everyone you know is OK though. I always keep everyone living in the Midwest in my thoughts during this time of year because the weather can be terrible.

    1. I have been lucky so far and have never experienced a tornado first hand (knock on wood) but my mother was in one about 20 years ago and from her recounts they are indeed scary stuff! I recently watched a NatGeo special on the OK tornado in Moore and the video was crazy. It seriously looked fake like CGI for a movie.

  4. Stay safe! We have had a lot of storms here, but no tornadoes. Although there have been some in cities not far from ours. Our cats usually don't get scared by storms, but these have been crazy. Our 18 lb cat hid inside our coffee table! We have one with a shelf in the middle, and we have it tucked in a corner. He wouldn't come out, he just hides in there when it gets too scary.

Thanks for linking up with my comment love! You can link up again if you would like!

    1. Aren't cats just the silliest. Ours finds the oddest places to hang out too. When I first got her I couldn't find her for hours and finally found her passed out on top of my kitchen cabinets. I still can't believe she can jump that high!
