What is that you ask...
That can't possibly be a piece of your ceiling you say...
Yes it most definitely is! Our ceiling literally fell down. Not all of it thank goodness but a noticeable chunk.
I mean that is kind of hard to miss right?
So uh... anyone know how to fix this?

What is your ceiling made of? I'm guessing... And let me reiterate I'm just guessing here! I imagine it's similar to patching drywall, but probably with an extra step to texturize it (I think it looks like it had some dimension but not quite a popcorn ceiling?) I just patched my first piece of drywall a couple weeks ago, its pretty painless... Drywall compound, putty knife, patch kit and sand paper. (I can explain more if you want) Unless the hole is bigger, then it's a different story! I would be a little worried what caused it though, is there moisture?
ReplyDeleteThe ceiling is plaster, our house is almost 100 years old they didn't do things the easy way back then! The general consensus here at work is that it is going to be expensive and not an easy diy repair. :(
DeleteMy first thought is get help. Seriously this could be a serious issue. You could have a leak in your ceiling that is making it soft and falling off.
ReplyDeleteWe just bought our house a year and a half ago, and have found all kinds of horrible things and have a huge list of things to fix around here. So I feel your pain, I truly do.
Thanks for linking up with comment love. I would love for you to link up again.
Yeah I wouldn't normally take something like this lightly but I know it isn't water damage. Our house settled pretty significantly after a really hot dry spell last summer and the crack you see in the pictures was a result of that. It was only a matter of time until the crack got worse. :(
DeleteIsn't home ownership fun?!?!
That looks bad! Definitely call a professional!
ReplyDeleteI did and it isn't going to be a cheap fix. :(
DeleteHe actually recommended we tear it down and put drywall up so that will be a fun project...
