Now imagine a day in which thunderstorms are called for and it poured in the morning. 11:30 rolls around and it's overcast but dry with some ominous looking clouds in the distance. In the interest of being healthy and all that jazz I had made a deal with myself that I could only eat from the food truck if I walked to it (it parks about a half mile walk from my building). Being the kind of gal that thinks umbrellas are for chumps and who also REALLY wanted tacos I headed out on my quest. Lets just say things did not end well for our hero (me)...
It started sprinkling when I was about 2/3rds of the way there and I considered turning back but my love for food trucks provided the push I needed to keep going. Thank goodness the lovely food truck provided a tent for us as we waited for our order because by the time I reached it the rain was coming down hard! I asked the dozen or so people also waiting for their order if any of them had driven from my building but alas I would not be so lucky...
Delicious tacos come out that window! |
Food in hand I stood at the edge of the tent laughing at myself internally and took off. About 30 seconds later it was apparent my shoes had to go. Picture a petite blonde walking along the side of the road holding a styrofoam container and a pair of shoes... oh and she look like a drowned rat too. So clearly I was a site to behold. About halfway through my journey I started praying someone would see me and offer a ride and sure enough not one but two people I knew stopped! Ask and you shall receive I guess?!?
Finally, I make it back to work where there are roofs but no blow dryers. I dried my hair with a spare cardigan. A coworker also let me use her heater which helped greatly when it came to my wet pants!
So glad you asked... I got the Gringo taco (which made me feel a little bit racist while ordering) and the Chicken taco. I also got a side of mild salsa and chips.
The Gringo Taco: This was your typical beef soft taco and the beef was seasoned to perfection! The tortilla disintegrated as I ate but that could have been a result of my ordeal and thus not eating right away.
The Chicken Taco: This one was not quite as delicious as the Gringo but the tortilla held up better. The chicken could have used more flavor. I probably wouldn't order this one again but I ate the entire thing so that should tell you something...
Chips and Salsa: I ordered the mild salsa because I am a big baby when it comes to hot stuff and let me tell you, something packed heat! I actually think the chips had red pepper flakes or some other spicy seasoning sprinkled on top. It was different and I liked the twist.
